WHO WE ARE
Our membership comprises nearly 300 men and women from a variety of backgrounds. Many are engaged in the arts, either professionally or as volunteers. We are intellectually curious and interested in learning about art, art history, the performing arts and music. Together we experience rich and lively discussions as we keep abreast of developments in the art world.
Art Seminar Group (ASG) has a long association with the Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art as well as with MICA, Johns Hopkins University, the Contemporary, The University of Maryland and other area institutions promoting the arts. Through these relationships we tap a remarkable array of talent. Our speakers – museum directors and curators, gallerists, art historians and authors – are leading authorities in their fields.
We offer an extensive program of weekly lectures across a broad range of art and art history, including the visual arts, theater, film, architecture, music and dance. Each summer we present a film series, hosted by professors of film, film historians and filmmakers. ASG visits art exhibitions, private collections and theater events throughout the mid-Atlantic and usually offers one international trip each year.
