Please join us for a tour of the National Gallery of Art, focusing on the art of portraiture. This program concludes the series of lectures on the evolution of this pictorial genre from the Renaissance to the present. Our walking tour is organized in a chronological manner. We will begin in the Italian Renaissance galleries, continue to those showcasing Dutch and Flemish portraits of the 17th century, and conclude by looking at 19th-century portraits in France and the United States.
Following the tour, we will have lunch on our own. Afternoon activities under development.
